Simana started her career as an engineer 22+ years ago and has been in leadership roles for the past 10 years. Simana joined SumUp as Global VP of Engineering for the Risk & Compliance team at the beginning of 2023. At SumUp she is responsible for enabling everyone to build a profitable business by preventing and mitigating risk, fraud, financial crime and  addressing regulatory compliance, with smart, global, and automated solutions built using machine learning and AI. Simana is a board director at SumUp and champion of AI across the company. In her previous role, Simana worked as a head of engineering for transaction risk management business for ComplyAdvantage. Prior to that, she was the director of product engineering at LexisNexis Risk Solutions group. 

Simana was selected as an official member of the Forbes Technology Council in March 2023. Forbes Technology Council is an invitation-only community for world-class CIOs, CTOs, and technology executives, and Simana was vetted and selected by a review committee based on the depth and diversity of her experience and business impact. Simana also won the John Caples Bronze award for best use of creative technology and is a dedicated speaker at various industry events. Simana lives in London with her husband and two boys.
