Funmi is a dual-qualified lawyer and a qualified Chartered Governance Professional. Funmi is a seasoned Senior Executive and Board Director, with extensive experience managing diverse global teams and complex functions in multi-jurisdictional organisations, having worked out of Africa and from the United Kingdom.

Funmi is currently the General Counsel & Head of GRC and Group Company Secretary at MFS Africa, and is responsible for several Group functions, including the Group’s legal and regulatory affairs functions; its risk management and compliance functions; its engagement with Governments, and all governance-related matters, including corporate governance, data governance and ESG.

Prior to MFS Africa, Funmi was the Head of Legal & Company Secretary at United Bank for Africa (UK). Prior to UBA, Funmi was in private practice for over 15 years.

Funmi is a sought-after speaker and presenter and often speaks at industry events, on topics such as financial inclusion, mobile money, banking regulation, GRC related matters, and women in fintech.
