GIRLS INTO CODING

Girls Into Coding provides girls aged 10 to 14 with unique hands-on experience in coding, robotics, physical computing, 3D printing & 3D design activities. Our workshops and educational events are led by a range of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) educators and mentors, including girls in the same age range as the attendees. Our vision is to see girls and women engaged in STEM activities, education & careers – equally comfortable, with an equal sense of belonging, and in equal numbers.

Our aim is to engage at least 1000 girls a year with hands-on meaningful workshop opportunities and inspiring talks.

Our Story and Who we are

Avye is a 13-year-old student and passionate about STEM. In 2018, already a coder, maker, and workshop leader she came up with the idea of organising coding events for girls, after repeatedly observing that most attendees at her workshops were boys. She was determined to encourage more girls to give STEM a go. As a result, she decided to set up ‘Girls Into Coding’, a series of events targeting girls.

Girls into Coding is a Community Interest Company (CIC). We are a mother and daughter-run social enterprise.

Office for Students

#JoinYourAIFuture with a new career in AI and Data Science

In partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the Office for AI, the Office for Students is offering new postgraduate conversion courses in AI and Data Science across 18 universities in England. The courses are designed to equip students with the digital skills needed to start a career in AI, applicants are not required to have prior knowledge, education or training in STEM-based subjects.

Flexible courses and funding to kickstart your learning

Scholarships worth £10,000 are on offer, prioritised for Black students, women and disabled students, among other underrepresented student groups to support with study and increase diversity in the workforce. Flexible learning options and paid work placements are also available across the programme to support students with other work and caring responsibilities.

Coding Black Females

Coding Black Females is the largest network of black female developers in the UK. Established in 2017, we are a non profit organisation with the aim to grow and inspire the community of black female developers.
