CREATING A LEGACY: POWERFUL INSIGHT FROM OUR 2021 TECH AWARD ALUMNI

This year, technology has taken on astronomical significance in the lives of every woman, man and child on the planet. Thanks to technology, children can continue to receive education, families can connect, and we’ve all been able to shop, be entertained, and stay in touch with friends and colleagues. The future will be shaped in immeasurable ways by technology and the talented individuals who drive it.

The pandemic has put life as we know it under a microscope, and now more than ever, we are asking ourselves, as human beings, how do we want to live? We all want to leave the world in a better place than we found it, to take action today that will positively benefit generations tomorrow. And nowhere is this sense of passion and purpose for people and planet more keenly felt than in the technology industry, which has long been a home for trailblazing women who’ve seen tech as the route to solving real world problems of every conceivable kind.

Those early pioneers like Grace Hopper, Marie Curie and the amazing Ada Lovelace created legacies that will stretch far into the future. Many generations later, we are still benefiting from their work. But legacies come in all shapes and sizes, and each and every person working in tech today is part of a ground swell of change that will create a better planet for tomorrow. Whether they’re part of a team creating cutting edge tech, striving to become a more inclusive leader, or making time to mentor junior women, the collective impact of those small but significant everyday actions can and will change the world.

Indeed, this video showcases some of the incredible women and men involved in the everywoman in Technology Awards and what they have to say about the legacy they hope to leave behind.
