After completing an Engineering Doctorate in 2002 at Cranfield University Rachel joined a small start-up company called ITM Power as one of two Research Scientists. Over the last 20 years she has grown the business from a small R&D company to a globally recognised leader in the hydrogen sector. ITM Power has over 400 staff in Sheffield, where it manufactures electrolysers for green hydrogen applications, and continues with its strong R&D background.

During Rachel’s time at ITM Power she has had a wide variety of roles, including Head of Science, Operations Manager and Grant Funding Manager. In 2015 she was appointed to the Board of Directors and in 2015 she began her current role as Services Director.
