How to be a straight ally

As Pride month draws to a close, we’ll be inviting some fantastic guest speakers to take part in some lively conversation around the significance of Pride in today’s world, and why it’s all the more important that we celebrate it while working remotely. We’ll also be exploring the importance of straight allies, and the steps each and every one of us can take to create diverse and inclusive workplace cultures in which every individual can thrive. We’re delighted to be joined by guest speakers Carol Lukaszewicz Dansey, Finance Manager – International at M&G, Mariangela Fierro, Managing Director at Accenture, and Mirna Rodriguez Caballero, Global Service Design Lead at Avanade.

MARIANGELA FIERRO is Managing Director at Accenture. After completing a degree in computer engineering, she moved into cyber security, later joining Accenture as a security consultant and undertaking various other roles before becoming Managing Director. She came out in 2013, and works hard to improve a culture of equality at work. She is the Pride sponsor for Accenture Italy. She lives in Bergamo with her girlfriend.

MIRNA RODRIGUEZ CABALLERO is the Global Service Design Lead at Avanade. Based in Spain, she is the local lead for the organisation’s LGBTQ+ Employee Network, supporting employees and the business with awareness on LGBTQ+ inclusion topics, ‘so it doesn’t become a rainbow elephant in the room’. She strongly believes that our community success is where we don’t care about labels anymore and we learn that love between consenting adults is still love.

CAROL LUKASZEWICZ DANSEY is Finance Manager – International at M&G, responsible for financial control and external reporting of 20+ entities based outside the UK. She was co-chair of M&G’s LGBT+ Network for four years and remains on the committee as an ally lead. She was drawn by the network’s ambition to ‘foster a safe environment, where everyone who identifies as LGBT+ could feel comfortable being open about their gender identity and/or sexual orientation’. Carol has been shortlisted as a Top 10 Business Ally in the 2021 British LGBT Awards.
