How making lists can reduce stress

Joanna Chin, co-founder of health advertising agency Langland, is a self-confessed list person. “My default if I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed is just to get everything down on a piece of paper.”

So as the pressure starts to rise, she finds the process of pulling all those concerns together in one place starts to help relieve the stress.

“Once it’s all down there I can make an assessment of the extent of the problem and start breaking it down, prioritising and sorting it. If it’s not there and I can’t quantify it or start putting timelines around it then sometimes it can feel overwhelming.”
