How to Submit Your Own Useful Resources

RESOURCES

All everywomanNetwork members can create a variety of resources for the site, including articles, blogs, videos, and downloads. Members can tell their stories, log their progress, and provide advice from their areas of expertise. Those who demonstrate their knowledge creatively by submitting resources for the everywoman site could benefit from the positive reputation they will develop across the community.

Adding resources to the site is for the purpose of providing useful content to inspire and inform others. We respectfully request that you do not abuse this facility. Please use flags to report any inappropriate or irrelevant material. Remember that all material posted is public, so you should have the authority to post it if it is not your own work. See Terms and Conditions.

Creating Resources

Articles, blogs, videos and downloads can all be created in three ways:

  • Through your profile navigation in 'ewNetwork' (right-hand column). Click ‘Create’, followed by ‘Article’ or equivalent.
  • Through a group. The various resources are split between the left and right columns. Select ‘Add new article’ or equivalent.

Members can post resources to any groups of which they are a member - this can be their own that is written specifically for a group they belong to, or something submitted by another member which they feel would be useful to one of their group's members. This can be done by simply clicking the 'Post to your group' link at the top of the resource, and then ticking the group(/s) they want to post to.

Articles

The scope for articles on everywoman is significant. When submitting an article, you may wish to consider the following:

  • Do you have a suitable image to accompany the article? The feature image must fit the required specifications (larger than 246x246 pixels [ideally that exact size]; smaller than 300 kb).
  • Could large sections of text be divided by subtitles? Smart presentation will improve the legibility of your article.

The most popular articles are featured under the ‘Articles’ sub-menu, and will gain useful exposure.

Blogs

Members wishing to blog on the everywoman site will need to configure their blog first before posts can be submitted. Once configuration is complete, members can create blog entries.

When configuring your blog, giving it an informative title and adding a general description will encourage other community members to follow your updates. Will your blog have a particular niche? A good formula for maintaining a successful blog is in understanding what you like to write about and what you know well. You can also add a defining image for your blog. Select ‘Save’ to submit your blog details.

Once your blog has been successfully created, you can then proceed to create blog posts. Quick access to your blog is found through the 'My Blog' link in the profile box (top-right). Alternatively, add a blog entry directly to a group through that group home page (see creating resources above). Individual blog posts function in a very similar way to articles. They should be individually titled. When creating your blog post, you can choose to attach your post to any number of groups of which you are a member. These measures help to disseminate your content to the right audience. Even after creation, any member's individual blog posts can be attached to groups. [See Participation for more details].

For more on the benefits of blogging and for advice on writing a blog, see everywoman's article 'Getting Started With Blogs'.

Video

Do you have footage of an event? Is there a motivational speech which has proved particularly influential to you? Members can contribute video content to the site by uploading their material to YouTube, or locating other useful videos they find, and entering the link into the space provided. The video will then be embedded as the main feature of the page. Adding a description of your video may encourage busy circulating members to watch your submission. Back to resources.

Downloads

Here, members can upload presentations, business plans and templates, example materials, or guides, for example, in PDF format (with a maximum size of 3 Mb). It is useful to provide explanatory text to encourage members to download and view your documents. Back to resources.
