How to Create and List an Event
everywoman offers the opportunity for everywomanNetwork members to create and list events (not an everywomanNetwork member? Find out more). By posting your events across different groups, it will be easy to target your prospective audience and to acquire new interest across the everywoman community.
Creating an Event
There are three ways to create an event:
- In 'ewNetwork' via your profile menu (right-hand column). Click ‘Create’, followed by ‘Event’.
- Via a group. The ‘Events’ panel is in the right column. Select ‘Add new event’.
You must belong to at least one group to create an event. This can include a group that you have created yourself.
All fields marked with an asterisk [*] must be completed to list the event. A map of the location is automatically generated as part of the event page. If your event has a promotional webpage elsewhere, you have the option to enter the URL; descriptive text for the hyperlink – such as your website title – can be entered in the adjacent box.
The body text area should be used to promote your event. You may wish to consider the following:
- What is the purpose of your conference or event?
- Why might members of the everywoman community wish to attend?
- Are there distinguished plenary speakers or attendees at your event?
- Have you, or your organisation, hosted successful events previously that you could highlight?
Selecting your industry may help target your listing to the community.
The creator can post their event to any number of groups of which they are a member. Groups can later be added or removed from the event’s ‘Audience’ list by using the ‘Edit’ or ‘Post to Groups’ features.
Managing an Event
Your event can be edited and managed as follows:
View
Adding tags will match your event to other content across the site, and will increase the chances of your event being found by other members who are following or browsing those areas of interest.
Edit
Event owners can use the ‘Edit’ tab to alter any of the details submitted during the creation of the event. It can also be used to delete the event.
Clone
The ‘Clone’ function creates a replica of an event, allowing a user to modify the details and create a similar new event. With minimum effort, the times/dates can be changed so that the YourCompany 2009 Conference held in Manchester becomes the YourCompany 2010 Conference in London.
Post to Groups
This is a shortcut to add or remove groups to your ‘Audience’ list.
Deleting an Event
An event can be deleted by its creator through the ‘Edit’ tab.
