Women Working in Transport & Logistics Focus on Leadership
The second annual everywoman in Transport & Logistics Leadership Academy took place at De Vere Venue Staverton Park in Northamptonshire on Thursday, 21 June 2012, and was attended by women looking to develop their skills to achieve greater success and here from influential figures in the industry.
The day began with Beverley Bell, Traffic Commissioner for the Department for Transport opening up with a keynote address, followed by a panel session moderated by Rebecca Jenkins, Vice President, Freight Transport Association. The panel comprised of successful women working within the transport and logistics industry, including previous everywoman Award winners and finalists Debbie Palmer, General Manager, DHL Supply Chain (Ferrero), Stephanie Unitt, Environmental Advisor, CEVA Logistics and Lynne Watson, General Manager, Wincanton. The panel discussed how they experiences in the industry and how their route to professional success.
Following the panel session guests attended two varied and enlightening masterclasses hosted by Sara Parsons, Director of Rusholme Consulting and Kate Turner, Founding Director of Motivational Leadership.
Sara’s workshop focused on developing presence by understanding the best way to get messages across the workplace, while Kate’s session focused on self-reviewing activities to understand personal roadblocks to success, and to enable a route to becoming a high performing leader.
The day ended with Heather White, Networking Architect from Smarter Networking speaking about the benefits of powerful networking, building reputation through good communication.
It was a fantastic event, and really inspirational to see so many women in the transport and logistics sector pro-actively looking to gain knowledge and insight from peers within their industry, to further their own business success.
