The 2012 Specsavers everywoman in Retail Awards took place on Thursday, 13 September, recognising inspirational women working in the retail industry. Judith McKenna, Chief Operating Officer at Asda Stores Ltd, was awarded the Woman of the Year in recognition of her vision, innovative approach and success, making her an outstanding role model that will inspire more women to choose a career in retail.

Attended by some key figures in the industry, the Awards Ceremony was introduced with a keynote address from Karren Brady, and compered by the BBC's Kate Silverton. Guests had the opportunity to network with fellow women in business over dinner, before the ceremony which closed with an address by Specsavers Founder Dame Mary Perkins and a charity draw in aid of Wellbeing of Women.
