The Specsavers everywoman in Retail Awards

everywoman Retail AwardsAbout The Specsavers everywoman in Retail Awards

There is a severe shortage of female talent working at the top in the retail industry and the everywoman in Retail Awards seek to change that.  While the retail industry employs 60% women, a very low proportion of those women are working in senior management and there hasn't been any significant change to this situation during the past ten years. Research reveals there are less than 5% female CEOs in retail companies and only 8% of purchasing decisions made in the retail industry are made by women (source: Skillsmart Retail).

Why Enter the Specsavers everywoman in Retail Awards?

By highlighting the industry's inspirational women and celebrating their successes and achievements, the Specsavers everywoman in Retail Awards aim to highlight the contributions that women are making to their field and to encourage more women to pursue a career in the sector. Being selected as a finalist, or in fact winning an award, will attract attention and support from the business world, government, industry and the press. It will recognise the nominee as an inspirational ‘role model’ who will inspire more women to consider a career in the retail industry.

Nominations have closed for this year's awards - finalists will be chosen by the judges and informed by the end of July, and announced on the website in early August 2009.
