If money is flowing into your business but just as quickly flowing out again then it's time to examine money leaks that could be draining away your hard earned revenue.
Although it's important to put your focus on generating revenue to grow your business unless you've got a solid financial foundation in place you can find yourself on a hamster wheel of working harder but with little in the Bank to show for it.
Money leaks are often not that obvious but over time can seriously erode your financial success. So here's what to look out for so that you can stem the flow:
Our voices are wonderful, frequently undervalued and undernourished, instruments. The first women at work blog explored taking up space and 'centring' oneself to encourage confident presence. I've followed up with two blogs that focus on practical voice and breathing exercises to try out, for steadiness and richer tone. We will shortly be posting audio files with voice exercises and a vocal workout you can download for free. I hope you have fun with them. Little and often works - I promise!
I'm a creative person, and mixed with that I also consider myself a very positive person. Shouldn't that be a good thing?
In day to day working life, i come up against hoards of negative people. They stand around looking deflated, as if everything they touch is going to break, as if there's no point trying anything because it's never going to work, as if they will never succeed because life is so hard on them. Ok, perhaps thats slightly over exaggerated but I can tell a negative person from a positive one within 5 minutes of conversation.
I feel extremely privileged to have been told about this opportunity during this pre-launch phase. Bill Gates was asked what industry the next Bill Gates will be in and he said the deregulation of energy. Momentis is the marketing arm for Just Energy which is a 300 billion dollar company specialising in natural gas/electric/green energy. Just Energy, has taken a unique approach to marketing prior to its official launch in the UK this summer. Instead of the conventional use of huge, expensive advertising campaigns the company has engaged the network marketing company Momentis.
One of the pleasures of working from home is that you can wear what you like and save money by not having to constantly dry clean expensive suits and smart clothes. Instead you can buy clothes to throw in the washing machine and you even get to hang them out to dry and get them in again before the rain starts.
Grounding is a discipline technique which many parents use when their children have gone against their wishes. They can forbid them from attending social events – parties, sleepovers, play-dates for a specific period of time (long enough for them to reflect on their behaviour) or they can stop their children doing certain activities – watching television, using the wii or playstation, any ‘punishment’ that the parent thinks their child will learn from.
Have you ever wondered why as a child you had all the will in the world to be a superhero or just somebody absolutely fantastic and now as a grown up you seem to have lost the will to live? We’ve lost our motivation and don’t know how to get it back.
Why? Children are human too (yes they are, if yours aren’t then you need to get your own DNA checked out) so what’s the difference?
Well kids have no responsibility and we have all the worries in the world and therefore no time for anything else. That’s the answer I hear so often from adults.
Every so often I get an opportunity to do something different. There was the swimsuit photoshoot that I did to show girls that women come in all shapes and sizes (yes I actually posed in a swimsuit), there was the chance to present an award at an Awards ceremony (and make a speech) and more recently there was an opportunity to be part of an amazing website http://ideamensch.com/. I was recommended to be part of it and the reason I said yes is because I love the quirkiness and profile of the site.
Firstly, apologies for the delay in posting my follow-up blog. You must have thought I was inundated with new enquires as a result of the trade show. Proof that I had been proved wrong about networking? No, it’s just been incredibly busy in the office, and despite doing 10-12 hour days to keep on top of the number of live events on my desk, I’ve simply not had the time to sit down and respond to my last blog. It’s now 5.15am the day before I go on holiday and I’m up early to tick off my response from my list of jobs to do before I fly off to Biarritz for a long, May bank holiday weekend.
